Seven of Wands tarot card from the Simply Tarot deck

Seven of Wands Tarot Card Meaning

The Demotivated.
Defence • Persistence • Pressure

The Seven of Wands shows that enthusiasm or motivation for your journey has waned. Perhaps you’re finding it difficult to stay focussed and committed to your goal. Revisit plans objectively to see where alterations could reignite your creative passion and spur you on. A change is as good as a break - so the saying goes.

The Subject is struggling to retain their passionate attachment to someone, or something they are working on, in their life. There could be a number of reasons why - they may be lacking support, or they have become disillusioned and unexcited about the future and its possibilities.

The Subject really needs to think this through; a decision has to be taken regarding this issue - should they come away from this relationship/situation? Or should they make a real effort to change their attitude and inject some enthusiasm back into it?

They should not ignore it, however, because it will create additional problems and, as a result, they will become more detached than ever. Instead they need to focus on finding a way to restore their appetite for the situation, or come away from it, in order to drive things forward.

Love & Relationships

Emotional boundaries are being defended fiercely now. One or both people may feel exhausted from constantly protecting their position within the relationship, especially if trust has already been shaken before. Love becomes difficult to sustain when vulnerability always feels dangerous.

Material Life

Maintaining security demands vigilance now. Someone may feel pressured to constantly defend their position, protect their resources or prove their worth simply to avoid losing ground already fought hard to gain. Survival instincts become difficult to relax once life has repeatedly taught the cost of vulnerability.

Notes from the Artist

Two of the seven Wands are not rooted in the ground but have attached themselves to the other Wands which differ in height also; visually appearing almost as a barrier to movement forward and a loss of cohesion. The circle of flames around the Wands are uniform suggesting a lack of motivation or excitement and energy.
