Reading Tarot Reflectively
What is Reflective Reading?
Reflective Reading is the practice of connecting Tarot cards to real experiences, emotions, people and situations.Rather than relying solely on memorised meanings, you build understanding by recognising how the themes of a card have already appeared in your life.Over time, those reflections become a personal reference library that helps deepen your readings and develop intuition.
What is Intuition?
Before we go any further, it's worth talking about intuition.
People often describe intuition as a gut feeling, a hunch, or simply "knowing" something without being entirely sure how they know it.
A common definition is the ability to understand something immediately, without consciously working through all the reasons why. That might sound mysterious, but it happens in everyday life all the time.
You might instantly sense that someone is upset before they've said a word. You might have a feeling that a particular decision isn't right for you. You might recognise a situation you've experienced before and instinctively know how it is likely to unfold.
In many cases, intuition isn't appearing from nowhere. It's your mind drawing on experiences, observations, memories and knowledge so quickly that the reasoning happens beneath the surface. At Simply Tarot, this is the side of intuition we help you to develop.
Many Tarot readers have different beliefs about spirituality, energy, psychic ability and where intuition ultimately comes from.
Those beliefs are deeply personal, and we're not here to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't believe. What we do know is that every reader can strengthen their understanding of the cards through reflection and experience.
When you connect a card to situations you've lived through, people you've known, emotions you've felt and lessons you've learned, the card gradually becomes more than a definition in a guidebook. It becomes something you understand.
Over time, those experiences begin to form a mental library. The more examples you collect, the more naturally the meaning of a card starts to emerge when it appears in a reading.
That's the work we focus on here.
Not memorising more keywords.
Not telling you what to believe.
Simply learning how to recognise the cards in real life, so that your understanding becomes deeper, more personal and more intuitive with every reading.
Intuition Through Recognition
Intuition is not just “feeling something”; it can be built by repeatedly noticing how card themes show up in life.
