Page of Swords Tarot Card Meaning

The Watchful Tongue
Curiosity • Gossip • Vigilance

Be careful of how and who you talk to. Your new viewpoint will lead you to question people and situations around you. If you share this, your words could be blown out of proportion when repeated by others. You know your intentions but they’re open to interpretation.

The Subject may have a new or changing standpoint or attitude to do with something in their lives, but they need to be careful when sharing their thoughts with other people. The Subject’s new way of thinking is exactly that - new -and may not be quite formed enough to project onto the outside world without receiving criticism.

The Subject should think about whether they have been, or are being, just a little too loose-lipped about something. Because of their new attitude they may be saying things in a way that could be taken out of context when passed on by someone else.

The Subject could also feel that they are a victim to gossip or rumour and, again, it could just be a case of misinterpretation. The main advice is to be careful in their dialogue for now, either with their own words, or to avoid misinterpreting the meanings of what other people are saying; they should also avoid being too sharp tongued or spiteful.

Love & Relationships

Curiosity and emotional caution move together here. Someone is watching closely, questioning intentions or trying to understand the connection before fully trusting it. Words carry unusual weight now, especially those spoken carelessly or repeated without thought.

Material Life

Alertness sharpens around practical matters now. Someone is gathering information carefully, watching for hidden risks or trying to understand a situation fully before placing trust in it. Stability begins improving once curiosity replaces blind assumption.

Notes from the Artist

A Page is not a member of the Royal Family, but more a messenger or apprentice. The Page of Swords is but a child. He is naive (looks and acts innocent), is not standing to attention (is quite relaxed in the way he almost leans on his Sword) and stands idly watching and listening. Whatever he sees or hears, he does not have the capacity to fully understand the context of certain things - he can miscommunicate something he wants to relate or can misunderstand something he hears. He represents the importance of being sure of the detail before making a definitive declaration.
